Saturday - I was thankful for the Bodell Bistro cookbook. It just seems like a bit of family is right with me when I cook from it.
Sunday - I was thankful for Nicki Patterson. She volunteered to have my kids come and stay with them for a few days while my kids were out of school. I ended up having to work a last minute double shift and I was glad that Nicki had my kids so I didn't feel like I was neglecting them. Thanks so much Nick!
Monday - Today I am thankful for my Huggy Hubby. This morning (with no kids or work after having worked a double shift yesterday), my husband woke me up with breakfast in bed.

I have been out of town in Seattle for 2 days so I have a few days to make up for. I am going to work backwards,
Today I am grateful for my Silverado Ward. Even though we have moved, this past Saturday, they had a service project at our home in Vegas and tore out a tree that was about to fall over on top of fence.
Yesterday I was thankful for my job at Alaska Airlines.
The day before I was thankful for JK Rowling.

Today I am thankful for mystery shopping! Thanks to Tiffany's inspiration and my husbands indeed.com searching, I am a mystery shopper and love it. Yesterday we went to Buffalo Wild Wings for Lunch and Joe's Crab Shack for dinner. I would never be able to afford to go out to eat if it wasn't for being a mystery shopper. If you would like to sign up to be a mystery shopper send me an email and I will forward the websites to you.

Yesterday I was thankful for my car. It started snowing Saturday night, A LOT! I had to be at work at 6:00 am on Sunday. I was not looking forward to a nights sleep stressing about the drive only to wake up and actually have drive on the icy roads. I decided to drive to the airport Saturday night and sleep in my car. Wayne put a mattress in the back for me and 3 sleeping bags. I drove to the airport, slept like a baby, woke up and went to work. There were 6 of us working that morning, myself and one other were the only ones on time.
Today I am thankful for overprotective schools. Dillon slipped this morning on ice before school. That is all I know for sure. After that I am told: as he walked into the cafeteria he was holding on to the walls for support and had a bloody nose. The school called, I was at work, and said that they felt that he needed to go home and be monitored and possibly go to the doctor. They said he was feeling nauseated (Who knew that Dillon knew what nauseated meant?). Work let me go home early and use some of my sick days (that I have been collecting and have never used). I picked him up and other than a nasty scrape on his head, seemed fine. I get to have this time to spend writing this blog and watching clone wars with Dillon.

Today I am thankful for my kids...Here is a "Mommy Moment" that I never want to forget. This happened a few years ago at Salt Lake Temple square. We were waiting in line to go see a movie and my sister-in-law, Kristie handed out fruit roll ups to the kids. As we walked in the to movie, it was dark. Dillon was sitting by me and said in a whisper, "Here Mom," and gave me this tiny little thing. "Oh, nice, Dillon is sharing this tiny piece of roll up," I thought. I popped it in my mouth just about the time that Dillon whispers, "It's my booger."

Today I am grateful for my family that, who knows how often in the last year and a half have checked my blog for updates, and the day that I post, they are there with encouraging words.

I know, I know, it has been far too long. It has been over a year since my last post. I don’t know what to say other than; it has been a hard year. Here is the long of the short of it:
-We lost the house that we built. We still owe the bank money…OUCH!
-Wayne thought with construction being so bad that it might be good to find another line of work. He was accepted to the Las Vegas Police Department. He started the Police academy and realized that this was NOT the life he was looking for. He did not want his job to be “Officer Jerk”, which was what the academy was training him to become.
-Wayne’s last day at the academy, May 5th, I got my furlough notice from Alaska Airlines. (Cinco de Mayo was not a great night, other than my sister-in-law, Andrea’s wonderful dinner.)
-I can keep my job with Alaska Airlines if I move somewhere I have seniority. Denver, LAX, Washington DC, Chicago and Seattle were my main choices. We chose Denver.
-We moved to Denver and live with Jack, Wayne’s Dad
-Last week here in Denver, they furloughed everyone with less seniority than me, so who knows what the future holds.
I haven’t felt much like blogging as I didn’t feel blog worthy. Someday I am going to look back at this time in my life and quite frankly, I don’t know if I will even want to remember it.
BUT – I know the only way I am going to come out of this trial is if rise above it. (Of course there are many tears now on my computer keys as I am writing this.)
This is what I know:
#1 The Church is true.
#2 I love my kids so much it sometimes hurts my heart.
Quite frankly…the rest I am figuring out while I go.
Here is why I started blogging again:
1. When upon life’s billows you are tempest-tossed,When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,Count your many blessings; name them one by one,And it will surprise you what the Lord has done.
[Chorus]Count your blessings;Name them one by one.Count your blessings;See what God hath done.Count your blessings;Name them one by one.Count your many blessings;See what God hath done.
2. Are you ever burdened with a load of care?Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?Count your many blessings; ev’ry doubt will fly,And you will be singing as the days go by.
3. When you look at others with their lands and gold,Think that Christ has promised you his wealth untold.Count your many blessings; money cannot buyYour reward in heaven nor your home on high.
4. So amid the conflict, whether great or small,Do not be discouraged; God is over all.Count your many blessings; angels will attend,Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
So as of today, November 11, 2009
I am thankful for the blessing of my Grandfather and Father and the other Veterans that have come and gone through my life.
